2 products
Eco slate a new 100% recycled synthetic roofing slate to the UK. Eco slate use a rubber like formulation which provides a strong, pliable and attractive environmentally friendly roof covering option for your home.
One large advantage of the rubber slate is its unique flexibility. These roof tiles can flex and bend to a large degree, you can practically roll the slate into a tube meaning they can for valleys tiles, ridge tiles, and verge tiles. The eco slate also can be cut easily, to any angle, or shape resulting in no need for any custom tiles. Due to be being a 100% recycled slate, it is worth noting that the slates may have slight colour variation due to the materials used, though many have said that this can help with the aesthetic of the roof producing a more natural finish.
With Eco slate synthetic rubber slates, there are no breakages. When using a standard concrete tile, clay tile, or natural slate, there will always be breakages unfortunately due to the material and transport. This doesn’t happen with Eco slate, and additionally, you will never lose a slate, due to any reason. Nor will the slates grow any moss or similar due to the material. These aspects reduce the roof maintenance required and prevent some unpleasant surprises.
One special feature of the eco slate synthetic slate is its ability to self-bond. Self-bonding allows for the slates to create one large membrane, similar to an EPDM rubber roof. This leaves a roof covering that is a stronger solid member.
A unique advantage that these rubber slates have from any other synthetic slate on the market is that they are self-bonding, this allows them to bond together once installed creating one continuous membrane. The benefit of this process gives you a roof that is much more resilient to wind, better insulated, and weather resistant even at low pitches. There is no specific timescale for the bonding as it relies on sunlight and heat, which means it is quicker to bond in the summer months.
Low pitch roofs are also no more a worry with Eco slate synthetic slates, due to their ability to self-bond they can be used on pitches all the way down to flat. Making them a fantastic low pitch roof covering.
Installation is extremely simple due to the slates being laid direct onto plywood or OSB board, no battens are required which can save on labour and make for a more streamlined installation. Speeding up install times considerably. It takes half the time to install compared to traditional slate on a felt and battened roof. Once the roof is boarded, then its simply a standard underlay before the slate is nailed down in place using the appropriate size copper nails, stainless steel nails, or galvanised nails. Great for DIY competent persons.
